Butte, MT, USA
Founded in the late 1860’s, Butte was the first major city of Montana. Situated in the Northern Rocky Mountains and straddling the Continental Divide, it is almost entirely surrounded by public land. Butte is home to one of the largest National Historic Landmark Districts in the United States, featuring nearly 6,000 contributing properties, alongside breathtaking mountains, streams, and trails. Rich in copper mining history and tradition, Butte also hosts one of the Northwest’s largest free outdoor music festivals, the Montana Folk Festival, as well as a popular annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and numerous family-friendly events throughout the year.
Located at an elevation of 5,538 feet, Butte experiences a semi-arid climate with average high temperatures rarely exceeding 80 degrees.
